Accidental pollution by HNS

Cedre Information Day, 18 March 2008, Saint-Denis-La-Plaine (Paris)

Ever since their creation, Cedre's Information Days have mainly focused on oil spills. Over the last five years we have had to provide answers to very complex questions on maritime or river incidents involving various hazardous products. Some of these products were transported in bulk (Ievoli Sun, Bow Eagle, Ece, incidents in the Kerch Strait) but more frequently in packages (Lykes Liberator, Rokia Delmas, Napoli). With the entry into force of the OPRC-HNS protocol last June, it seemed opportune to explore accidental water pollution by hazardous and noxious substances, bringing together not only French actors but also foreign partners for whom this is a current national or international issue. As is the custom of these Information Days, the current situation in terms of risks, regulations and response techniques will be fully illustrated by concrete examples.
