New site opened for litter monitoring on French riverbanks

20 June 2024

Located on the banks of the river Seine near the town of Yainville, the Petit Marais site is now part of the national monitoring network for litter from drainage basins.

As part of this initiative, Naturaul'un pour l'autre, a social integration enterprise, was trained by Cedre and is now an operator for the national monitoring network for litter from drainage basins.

The team at Naturaul'un pour l'autre is now ready to identify and characterise litter using Cedre's assessment grid. They will be taking quarterly samples to characterise litter on the banks of the Seine.

The first litter samples were taken in collaboration with the Seine-Normandy Water Agency, the Seine-Maritime Department, the Syndicat mixte de gestion de la Seine Normande and HAROPA PORT. Our thanks also go to GIP SEINE-AVAL who were unable to attend but who provided support in identifying a site.
