On 25 October 1992, the Norwegian cargo vessel Nordfrakt which was on voyage from Szczecin (Poland) to Antwerp (Belgium) encountered bad weather in the North Sea. Due to heavy seas, a displacement of the cargo occurred and the ship sank 50 km off Noordwijk (Netherlands) with 2,352 tonnes of lead concentrate.
The 6 crew members were rescued from two liferafts by helicopter.
Salvage operations to pump out the cargo from the wreck began in January 1993 and in March of that year, salvors started to cut up the wreck and remove it in pieces.
