A training course on crisis management in the event of maritime oil pollution, delivered to IMO Level 3 standards, was organised from 18 to 22 November by the Interregional Maritime Security Institute (ISMI) in Côte d'Ivoire, at ARSTM (Académie Régionale des Sciences et Techniques de la Mer) and led by two trainers from Cedre.
The course mainly focused on the strategic aspects of crisis management.
This action was carried out as part of the SAFE PORT project, with financial support from the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the Association de Gestion des Ports d'Afrique de l'Ouest et du Centre (AGPAOC) as technical partners. The course was attended by 20 representatives of 9 countries in the Gulf of Guinea (Benin, Cape Verde, Côte d'Ivoire, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Togo).
The course ended with a tabletop crisis management exercise, during which trainees were able to apply and test the knowledge acquired during the week's training, validated through a final assessment that showed good collective progress!
