“Understanding Black Tides” presents current knowledge in terms of the behaviour of oil at sea, the organisation put in place to respond to a spill, response means and the medium and long term consequences of an oil spill for the environment and maritime and economic activities.
 
It comprises a learning guide and 4 posters designed to raise the awareness of 12 to 18 year olds on the issue of oil spills and their impact on the environment.
This learning package provides materials for teachers preparing biology, chemistry, geography or economics lessons. The text is illustrated with images, graphs and diagrams. A set of 4 posters accompany the guide and can be used for applied exercises in class.
